Join s/y Eira on an off-shore race beyond the Russian border and back. The Suursaari Race is the Finnish equivalent of the Fastnet race and takes the participants around Suursaari, the biggest island in the eastern Gulf of Finland. Suursaari (or Hogland or Gogland) used to be a Finnish island but was ceded to Russia after WW2 and is an imposing view far out in the open sea.
The Suursaari race is a two-night race that collects the Finnish sailing elite for what is the most prestigious off-shore sail race in Finland. You can find the race route in the map below.
The race is long enough to have all the proper drill off an offshore race. The weather typically varies a lot during the race, so there is plenty of time to practice strategies and race maneuvers under the guidance of our competent crew. On-board Eira even beginners can feel the thrill and excitement of true off-shore racing, no previous racing experience is required!
- Two (three) days of intensive racing
- Full board during the race
- Safety gear
- Foul weather gear
